Villedor Gets Loud: Halloween Showdown 2026 Is On
Techland pushed Dying Light 2 to version 1.30 on October 22 (update 2.01 on consoles), and with it comes Halloween Showdown 2026, a three-week community event built around a simple idea: two sides, two goals, and you pick who to help.
Before the details, a note for PC players who run mods. Dying Light 2’s mod scene is modest compared with the first game, but weapon rebalance and visual packs tend to break on each patch, so check your load order before diving in. It is funny to watch a nearly five-year-old game keep getting events while most of the internet is busy searching for GTA 6 game mods before that game is even out, but Techland’s approach has always been to keep the live game busy and let the modders fill the rest.
Each week has two shared goals, each tied to a character, with separate rewards. You earn Showdown Candies by killing the weekly featured enemies, which appear in encounters and keep roaming the open world afterward. Halloween Chests give 40 Showdown Candies by day and 80 at night, which is as clear an invitation to go out after dark as Techland has ever written. Contribute at least 10 candies to a goal and you get its weapon if the community hits the target. Both goals reached means both weapons.
There is a quick-money trick too. Donating 10 candies to a faction immediately pays 500 Halloween Candies for Baka’s Event Shop, once per goal, so up to 1,000 a week on top of what Halloween enemies drop. The winning character’s charm can be claimed at the Pilgrim Outpost each week.

What else changed in 1.30
Villedor is dressed for Día de los Muertos and the Tower Raid has a traditional Halloween look. The intro and Skip Prologue videos were refreshed with new narration. On the fixes side, this patch addresses an Intel XeSS crash, VSync dropping performance to 8 FPS, audio cutting out after roughly 10 minutes, a store softlock during onboarding, FSR Frame Gen flickering and missing truck curtains. The money and item-slot conflict is also gone, which anyone who hit it will appreciate.

Dying Light x Embody on November 5
The same Steam feed that announced the Halloween patch also teased “Dying Light X Embody” for November 5. Embody’s Immerse Gamepack is bringing personalized 360 degree spatial audio to both Dying Light: The Beast and Dying Light 2, which means hearing a howl and knowing which rooftop it came from. Pricing and whether it needs a headset profile have not been spelled out yet.
With Dying Light: The Beast out in the world and Dying Light 2 still receiving three-week events, Techland is running two live games at once. For now, go hit some chests at night.
